Small Monarch Butterfly Earrings

The monarch butterfly represents strength, hope, rebirth, and transformation as these beautiful creatures morph from a caterpillar into a butterfly. The monarch butterfly has also long represented the souls of ancestors in the Aztec culture. “The Aztecs saw butterflies as the souls of slain warriors, and the butterflies’ migration symbolized the return of the greatest warriors. Today, Mexico’s Day of the Dead falls around the butterflies’ yearly journey to celebrate loved ones coming home.”

These butterfly earrings are handmade out of polymer clay, by using the technical Cane technique. With this technique the butterfly design is created out of clay in large blocks of clay. Once the design is ready, the image is then reduced by pulling and squeezing the clay until the desired size of the image is created.
